Share your stories to inspire the community. This story competition runs parallel to the Preparoo Blue and Gold challenges and is open to anyone who has completed at least Preparoo Blue.
Tell us: what have you learned, what have you done to be better prepared for bushfires? You can submit entries in the four categories:
- Poster
- Illustration or painting
- Cartoon
- Video
All submissions are due by 20 November 2026 and will be reviewed by a committee. In each category, the top three entries will be awarded and published.
Selection criteria
What to consider in your story.

Learning outcomes
What have you learned? Illustrate the difference between your initial mindset or beliefs with your current insights ("I had thought that... - now I know that...").

Effective action
Demonstrate the actions you took and how it matters for greater bushfire preparedness. Consider including 'before vs. after' photos or illustrations.
03.
Inspiration to others
What lessons can you share with others in the community? In how far can your actions be replicated by others? Share your insights and guidance.
04.
Creative minds
Finally, be creative in your entries. Let your artistic and creative skills go wild. Use poignant poetry, awesome video edits, or plainly beautiful drawings.
